Simply – your relationship to the law is in Christ……your relationship to God is in Christ……your identity is in Christ, you live life in Him; Acts 17:28 “In him we live and move and have our being’
Because the means by which you have relationship with God is not by your good intentions or the good works of your righteousness but in the righteousness of Christ God has imputed to you.
Your identity is in Christ.
You identify with Christ in his death.
You identify with Christ in his life.
You are not your own, you have been bought with a price.
That’s why Paul said in Gal. 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. . That’s why Christ is always pursuing you, because he knows your identity is complete. In Him you love, in Him you’re soul is satisfied, you have peace, in Him you are compassionate and kind, you are more than a conqueror. Paul tells Timothy there’s nothing he can’t do in Christ.
So why are we being taken in by the counterfeit so easily? How is it that we have missed the significance of who we are?
There is no way you will die to yourself unless you realize that the “you” you’re dying to is a rank, wretched, good for nothing man and the new man in Christ is complete.
Now putting yourself aside to forgive your wife and serve her, flows from your new identity.
The chaotic, uncertain, unstable life you live is because you forget who you are. Now life about the One who wants desperately to live His life through you.
It’s about seeing His beauty.
If everything I am is in Christ then what am l doing living for anything but Him?
If there is therefore no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus what am I doing living in the shame of my failure as I try to live up to God’s standard?
His love and acceptance of me moves me to conviction and confession, and the freedom of forgiveness. Now. I can look at the cause of my failures, allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the wounds of my life, and accept His healing.
Now, I forgive and live in God’s grace that bears testimony to His love. A transforming love; the glory of His goodness to which I now live, bringing Him glory.
You will always live a life defeated if you live ‘to’ please God…..live life, pleasing God with a heart of gratitude for the new life you have in Christ.
