Within the purpose of a man lies his role and within his role, honor.
The role of a man is best recognized as he embraces the deepest need of his wife.
Jesus compares himself to a shepherd because of the unique qualities and needs of sheep. Sheep depend on the shepherd to lead them and protect them. Only in his provision and protection will sheep feel secure enough to eat and rest. They are the only animals that cannot survive on their own. Left alone they will die.
The mystery of woman’s femininity is found in the whole of a woman. How God has created her physically and emotionally all speak to her deepest needs. When your wife has the freedom to fully express herself in how God created her she does so only in the strength and protection your true masculinity provides. To recognize the beauty of her vulnerability will empower you to create an environment of security which naturally gives way to her femininity and benefits both of you in ways that you can’t imagine.
Don’t let the culture distort God’s design for you and your wife. Your role as husband will continue to create the environment of safety your wife desires for rest.
One aspect of your God given role as husband is priest.
The prayer of the priest was made on behalf of the people.
Just as any duty, even prayer can be performed by rote. This will never happen with you toward your wife when you see how much of who you are is “God’s perfect provision for her”.
Your role connected to your purpose connected to your honor – continue being who God created you to be in who He created her.
The point is that the prayer is an extension of what is already taking place. A wife will not experience the security of a prayer which is disconnected from a life.
Priest, understand who you are before you perform what you do.
Finally, we do what we do because of who our wives are. This is not a bad thing, it’s the honorable, tender thing…. “Gentleness is not the absence of strength, but the application of strength to a tender situation”
